JOHN PROULX

A Celebration of Nat 'King' Cole!

Grammy Award®-winning composer, pianist and vocalist John Proulx (pronounced “proo”) joins us for an intimate evening celebrating the genius of Nat “King” Cole.

You’ll be in awe of John’s extraordinary interpretations of Cole’s classics, including: "Orange Colored Sky", "Nature Boy" and "Mona Lisa" as well as lesser known songs including: "Frim Fram Sauce" and "Hit That Jive Jack".

This show has a very personal connection for John.  He was first introduced to the music of Nat King Cole by his grandfather, Clyde Proux, a jazz guitarist.  Later when John had established his own career as a musician, he had the pleasure of performing with Nat’s daughter, Natalie Cole, and revisiting many of these great tunes once again.

This show is certain to be a very memorable Sunday evening.

The world's greatest composers penned some of their finest melodies for Hollywood. The music of Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, Kern, Arlen, and Warren was brought to life on the silver screen by a stellar host of musical superstars such as Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, Judy Garland, and Gene Kelly.

THE DUSTBOWL REVIVAL

The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, California-based collective that merges bluegrass, gospel, pre-war blues and the hot swing of New Orleans to form a spicy roots cocktail. Known for their roaring live sets, Dustbowl bravely brings together many styles of traditional American music. Some call it string band-brass band mash up. Imagine Old Crow Medicine Show teaming up with Louis Armstrong’s Hot Fives and Sevens, or Bob Dylan and The Band jamming with Benny Goodman and his orchestra in 1938. It’s infectious, joyous music - a youthful take on time-worn American traditions.

"In a city like Los Angeles, home to musical stars in nearly every known genre, handing out the Best Live Band title is not easy. But the free-thinking local collective Dustbowl Revival's upbeat, old-school, All-American sonic safaris exemplify everything shows should be: hot, spontaneous, engaging and, best of all, a pleasure to hear.
