We enthusiastically welcome  - for the first time - this immensely talented quartet with whimsical music and colorful stories of saxophone groups from a bygone era. 

 

From vaudeville origins to ragtime, dance bands and swing, through the jazz era, this musical journey will feature transcriptions of seldom-heard, rare wax cylinder and out of print 78 recordings, as well as arrangements from the most notable songwriters of the period. 

 

Delve into the music that inspired the saxophone craze and experience the transition into swing and big band sounds.  Our journey will end with a very special local history and the melodious sounds of West Coast 'Cool' renditions of popular songs from the previous eras. We can't wait!

The Perfect Gentlemen perform a family-friendly vocal variety show filled with great vocal harmony and plenty of humor. 

 

This award-winning vocal group recreates the harmonies of such legendary groups as The Ink Spots, The Mills Brothers, and the Pied Pipers, and brings characters to life while performing the era's great comedic songs by the Hoosier Hotshots and Louis Jordan.  

 

You'll get smooth four-part vocal harmony, tenor guitar and ukulele accompaniment, corny jokes, a chance to hear the rare Deagan organ chimes - played on the Chautauqua touring circuit.

CARL SONNY LEYLAND

 We’re excited to welcome back an Old Town Music Hall favorite!

 

Pianist & singer, Carl Sonny Leyland is known internationally as a specialist in Boogie Woogie piano & has been inducted in to the Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame. 

 

A great improviser, Sonny’s shows are a veritable grab bag of musical surprises.   He refuse to limit himself, preferring to let each performance be an opportunity to connect with us, the audience, and to offer us something spontaneous and fun.  Whether its ragtime, swing or the barrelhouse blue, Boogie Woogie is the heart & soul of his style.

HOTSY TOTSY

 

 

Hotsy Totsy faithfully recreates the fun of the 1920s!  Their theme song is "Everything Is Hotsy Totsy Now!  It was first recorded by Irving Mills and His Hotsy Totsy Gang around 1926.  Irving Mills on vocals and kazoo, and a very young Duke Ellington on piano. 

 

Hotsy Totsy chanteuse, Nannette, was born in Southern California and sang with many bands before forming her own group.  Members of the group are from all over Southern California.  Every band member shares the fun in creating the special carefree style of early jazz.   Dance in your seat, swoon and laugh with a cabaret-style show that’s fun for everyone.   

 

Hotsy Totsy is a regular at OTMH, and always puts on a great show that’s sure to leave you smiling and singing.
